YES i agree the underdrive pully wont dampen the harmful vibrations on the crankshaft.

YES installing an underdrive pully *could promote premature bearing failure.

BUT

Installing any preformance upgrading part to your engine will most likley decrease reliability while it increases performance. People dont upgrade their cars to make them faster and not know this.

High boost and NOx can kill engines if use inproperly, and even when all precautions are taken they WILL put extra strain on the engine. Yet people do it all the time, why? they are willing to trade their reliability for performance. The VGDTT motor is a great engine and if properly maintained the engine could be good for 250K turbos probably would have gone out before then.

But my point is very few people take that good care of their cars, People who maintain their cars but drive hard are going to replace the turbos around 120K and do major engine work or replacement at 150K. Its unavoidable i dont think a pully will make an properly maintained engine fail before 150K so why not have one installed and enjoy the benifits.

Its definatly not as bad as running your car with out the oil.

I dunno its just how you look at things, you can always buy a fisher dampened underdrive pully, they cost a little more but it might make you sleep better at night :)
